What ages does the Deuces field teams for during the spring season?

1st/2nd grade  (Competitive only. The league does not have Championship Teams at this level)
3rd/4th grade (Competitive only. The league does not have Championship Teams at this level.)
You will hear the 1st/4th grade boys referred to as Bantam players.

5th/6th grade (We have both Championship and Competitive teams.)
7th/8th grade ( We have both Championship and Competitive teams.)
You will hear the 5th through 8th grade boys referred to as Youth players.

Teams: Championship or Competitive

In 5th-8th grade you have a choice of whether you would like to play on a Competitive team (more recreational) or Championship team (more competitive).  Confused yet?  The difference between the 2 teams is the Competitive teams practice less and rotate players evenly throughout the game.  The Championship teams practice more, play at a more advanced level and against better competition. At the Championship level there are playoffs following the end of season.  Expect to practice 1 to 2 times per week at the Competitive level and 3 or more times per week at the Championship level.  If you are heavily involved in other sports, you may want to consider playing at the competitive level for the spring because practice is important at the Championship level. There are tryouts for the Championship teams.  See the Spring Tryouts tab to your left for more information on tryouts.

Costs for Spring 2012

Our prices have not gone up in 3 years!

1st/2nd grade:  $230
3rd/4th grade:  $250
5th/6th grade Competitive:  $275
7th/8th grade Competitive:  $300

Championship team costs per player are the same as last year $550.  The balance is due February 1st and will need to be mailed.  You will recieve instructions from your team manager about this once the teams get underway.

This price does not include uniforms or US Lacrosse number.  See References below for both.

Uniforms

ALL PLAYERS WILL NEED A NEW UNIFORM THIS YEAR.    You will be required to purchase that separately when you check out online.  The uniforms this year will be a fully sublimated custom reversible and shorts from Graph-Tex.  Please see the sizing chart to help you with your order.  Sublimation takes 6 weeks from the date you place your order so uniforms will not be distributed until your practice the week before your first games.
Reversible:  $42
Shorts:  $32

When you register online you will also need to have your players 3 # choices for his jersey. Oldest player gets first preference i.e. if a 6th grader's first preference is number 9 and a 5th grader's first preference is the number 9, the 6th grader will get number 9.

Practices and Games

Practices will be held at Gooch Elementary or Dallas Jesuit.

Gooch Elementary
4030 Calculus Drive
Dallas, TX 75244

Dallas Jesuit
12345 Inwood Road
Dallas, TX 75244

Practices will be held after school at one of these locations.  They will start at 4:00 PM.  Our coaches, coach multiple youth teams and are also Jesuit coaches so we will assign the practice days for each team after the teams are formed.

Championship teams will begin practice in late January and practice 2+ times per week and Competitive teams will begin practice the first week of February and practice 1+ times per week.

Games:

Home games will be located at Dallas Jesuit and away games will be located at the away teams facility (could be anywhere in the metroplex).  Games can be on either Saturday or Sunday.

Games will start the weekend of February, 18th for all Deuces teams.  The Deuces will not play games on either weekend of Spring Break.  We try to avoid Easter weekend as well.  Championship Deuces teams must play each opposing Championship team in their age division once during the season.  Playoffs commence at the end of season for Championship teams (see timeline above for exact dates), but not Competitive teams.  Competitive teams will finish their season at the end of April (this includes all Bantam teams).

Who Can Play for the Deuces?

The Deuces are mostly for Parochial School lacrosse players, players with siblings attending Jesuit or those players that intend on coming to Jesuit for High School (applying in 8th grade).  In short, we are the Jesuit College Preparatory School's feeder program for lacrosse in the spring.  We also take players from smaller private schools with no lacrosse program in the North Dallas area like Shelton, Good Shephard, Preston Hollow Presbytarian, St John's and other area schools with no lacrosse program of their own.

Parochial School Defined by Merriam-Webster:

A private school maintained by a religious body usually for elementary and secondary instruction

Our Coaches

The Deuces employ highly qualified lacrosse coaches with plenty of lacrosse experience and coaching knowledge.  Many of our coaches are also Jesuit Lacrosse coaches.  The Deuces are taught the same fundamentals and team lacrosse philosophies that the Jesuit players are taught, therefore making it easier on the Deuces players once they reach the high school level.  We don't use dad coaches, however, we do rely on parents to be team managers or administrators.  The team manager jobs involve webpage updates, team emails and some minor coordination of events.  Most of the team manager's job involves getting the teams up and running in January with initial communications about practice and game times.   All of our coaches have background checks.

Equipment Needed

All players will need the following equipment for the 2012 lacrosse season:

uniform (see uniform section above)
lacrosse stick
helmet with mouth guard
gloves
arm guards
shoulder pads
protective cup
lacrosse balls for practicing wall ball at home
